Food Bank  "Mosey for Meals"

​

Members  raised an amazing £1000 for the Epsom and Ewell Food Bank. We joined forces with Leatherhead Rotary who were also raising funds for them and with their donations an outstanding £8000 was raised.

​

Hampers for Local Care Homes

​

Members also raised money to send 4 hampers to Local Care Homes. Cathy put together a selection of hand creams, lip balms, shower gels and bath foams, mini facial packs and aromatherapy goodies to take to our local Care Homes for their staff. Our hampers went to Bellsgrove, Keswick , The Red House &  ( several members from Ashtead WI also contributed towards the Ashtead Hampers)

PPE for "Scrubs for Epsom and St Helier" Local Care Homes , Schools and Practices.

​

At the start of lockdown our sewers were busy making laundry bags( 5th April) for "Scrubs for Epsom and St Helier"but as the pandemic progressed there was of course a need for more... Most of what has been made by a team of amazing sewers has been passed onto " Scrubs for Epsom &  St Helier." A team of 5 ladies set up a Face Book group on 2nd April. They sourced patterns, coordinated orders and distributed fabric ( for scrubs) Since then they have raised over 10k and they have now donated over 10,000 items including 1100 sets of scrubs to the hospitals including Headley Court, Care Homes, GPs, community nurses and carers.

​

To all those from the community & beyond who have donated linen , wool and sewing materials, to those of you who have donated your time to sew... thank you , please know that 20% of the overall total number sent to " Scrubs for Epsom and St Helier"came from your kindness.

​

Every item made has been received as sent ... with love and appreciation.

During lockdown Craft with a Heart has been busy making laundry bag, scrubs, isolation gowns and mask adapters for the NHS , crochet bears & gnomes with face masks for the children's ward at The Royal Surrey Hospital. Tabards & face masks for a local Care Home in Fetcham, Bellsgrove ... Tabards & face masks for two of our local schools, Eastwick and Oakfield and scrubs and masks for the Queen Elizabeth Foundation... Isolation gowns for a physiotherapist and a dentist and hundreds of face masks!

 

None of this would have been possible without all the amazing kindness from local members of the community & beyond, local organisations, of sewers, knitters and crocheters and the kindness of Jenny from Fetcham Scouting who have kindly lent us their Scout Hut.

 

Items made: Laundry Bags 900, Sets of Scrubs 235, Extra Scrub Tops 48, Mask Adaptors 361, Button Headbands 188, Scrub Hats 213, Gowns 117, Tabards 100, Toys 92,  Face Masks Over 400 and counting.
